Ginger Dragon
The Ginger Dragon is a beloved fresh ginger tea that drives out the cold. There was a coffee shop on the corner across from campus, and when the cold got through my coat, I would go there and buy a giant, steaming Ginger Dragon, even if it meant skimping elsewhere.
The Ginger Dragon is easy to make with local ginger from Rayburn Farm. Start by creating a ginger concentrate. Just chop or grate approximately 8 ounces of clean ginger. Cover with 4-6 cups of water and simmer for 10 minutes. I like to add half a lemon to the pot.
After 10 minutes, pour the liquid through a strainer and discard the ginger, lemon rind and seeds. Let it cool and add the juice from the other half of the lemon.
When you're ready to makeGinger Dragon, dilute the ginger concentrate to taste and heat. I like it heated with a steam wand if you have one. Stir in honey to sweeten, and enjoy!
Fresh turmeric is also a great addition to this hot drink!
